About Us
Making Fishing Easier for Kids & Teens

The Dry Run Creek Academy provides three levels of instruction - Brook, Rainbow and Brown. At the fourth level, Cutthroat, students must show they've caught the four species of trout. The Dry Run Creek Academy is free, and no equipment or supplies are needed. We anticipate each level will be 3 to 4 hours, including fishing on Dry Run Creek. Instruction will be at Norfork National Fish Hatchery visitor center with fishing on Dry Run Creek.

*Must be under 16 to fish on Dry Run Creek - (The minimum age suggested is 10)

*All underage individual participants must be accompanied by an adult.

Trout Fishing Academy

Dry Run Creek Academy is pleased to announce the 2026 season. The first two seasons were a wonderful success with 100 student registrations.

The Academy provides three levels of instruction - Brook, Rainbow and Brown and the fourth level Cutthroat where students must show they've caught the four species of trout.  See the Student Cards below for more information.

We also offer a Dry Run Creek Jr Academy level for youth ages 6 to 8 that introduces them and their parents to the basics of fly fishing.
