What Is It?
Trout Fishing Academy Program for Youth
Started in 2024, Dry Run Creek Academy is a program designed to help youth learn how to trout fish. The first two seasons were a huge hit with over 100 student registrations. The Academy provides three levels of instruction - Brook, Rainbow and Brown and the fourth level Cutthroat where students must show they've caught the four species of trout. See the Student Cards below for more information.
We also offer a Dry Run Creek Jr Academy level for youth ages 6 to 8 that introduces them and their parents to the basics of fly fishing.
*Must be under 16 to fish on Dry Run Creek - The minimum age suggested is 10
How Does It Work?
Making Fishing Easier for Kids & Teens
We try to make it as easy as possible to jump, therefor, The Academy is 100% free of charge and no equipment or supplies are needed. Each level of instruction lasts anywhere from 3 to 4 hours including fishing on Dry Run Creek. All individual participants must be accompanied by an adult. Instruction will be at Norfork National Fish Hatchery visitor center with fishing on Dry Run Creek.
